  • As a child, Angela Medearis moved often because her father was in the Air Force.
  • Medearis' favorite author as a child was Laura Ingalls Wilder.
  • Children always send Medearis fan letters. In her favorite letter a child wrote, "Dear Mrs. Medearis, Thank you for telling us about being a writer.  I love your stories.  When I grow up, I want to be a waitress.
  • The first ever Teddy Children's Book Award was presented to Angela Medearis by First Lady Laura Bush.
  • Dancing with Indians, a Reading Rainbow series book written by Medearis is based on her family history.
  • Medearis has written several cookbooks.  She got her first contract by sending a sample of her peach cobbler to a New York editor.
  • Medearis was invited by President George W. Bush to be one of the thirteen authors honored during his inauguration in 2001.
  • Mrs. Medearis loves chocolate!
