Sleator, William. 1993. Others See Us. Dutton. New York: ISBN: 052541048.

Anticipating summer vacation and the opportunity to see his cousin, Annelise, Jared's summer plans take an unexpected turn.  A bike accident gives him the ability to read minds. After realizing his newfound talents, Jared finds out surprising information concerning his relatives and their secrets.

It is difficult to connect with Others See Us. The sequence of events in the story seems out of place and causes the novel to appear extremely unorganized. Sleator's novel is supposed to be suspenseful and thrilling but turns out to be just plain silly.  Kirkus Reviews suggests Others See Us  is a weak story from an author who has done better. I agree the novel is not appealing enough to capture the attention of young die-hard science fiction enthusiasts.
